I've played two rounds with the Cleveland Launcher CBX Irons (6-DW). So far I like them. The V Sole seems to work just as it does with the wedges (better 'turf interaction'). Zero fatties so far. I had Cleveland bend them to my specs (2 degrees up and 1 degree stronger).
The feel is nice (I believe they use 431 steel and the 6 and 7 iron have a cup face) and the distance and forgiveness are there. The V Sole looks narrow to me coming from Pings. They have a slightly thicker top line also which doesn't bother me.
Had 102 yards into hole #1 and hit the dual wedge 105 yards. Laid up on the first par 5 using the 7 iron and measured it with my GPS watch at 148 yards with a nice draw. Had 147 to a back pin par 3 up hill and into the wind and hit a nice draw (6 iron) that ended up about 5 yards off the back of the green.
The light weight 60 gram Miyazaki shaft seems to work fine for me. The only negatives are the Zip Grooves take a little extra to clean off with a towel after a shot. The Zip Grooves have small extra grooves in between the regular grooves. The brushed industrial steel finish may show wear more than other finishes, but that's a minor issue for me.
I would recommend giving these a demo for anyone looking to get new irons. Cleveland may not get the top billing in the iron category, but for me they perform as good as anything out there. They did in the dry data (launch monitor) and so far they're performing on the course.
