I recently ordered a set of PING G400 irons (6-AW) in stiff graphite. If you do a static fit on PING's website they recommend stiff in graphite if you hit your 7 iron 125 yards plus. Regular graphite is for a 7 iron distance of 105-120 yards. Soft regular for under 105 yards.
I hit my PING G 7 iron (reg. graphite) carry ~ 145-150.
This will be my first stiff flex graphite shafts for irons. Anyone have experience with stiff graphite in their irons with a moderate swing speed like myself ~ 90 mph with driver?
I've tried stiff shafts in my woods before and regular performs better. I do have a quick transition though and have to watch my tempo. Hoping for more control in my irons as the stiff graphite is slightly heavier at 83 grams. I also ordered a slightly heavier swing weight also.
Years ago when I was fitted for my G15's the Mizuno shaft analyzer software recommended heavy stiff steel. Because of chronic joint issues (elbow and neck) that was a non starter.
