Does anyone besides me swingweight their putters? If so, what do you think?/
Chuck

My putter is likely about a Z3 swingweight. It's a Mentor Sports Triad II with two 50g weights and one 100g weight in the head. I guess it might not swingweight quite that high since I have a Fatso 3.0 grip and a 92g buttweight in it, too. Total weight is likely about 1.5lbs. I love it.

How and why, would you 'swingweight' a putter? You do not swing it.

Not a believer in a target swingweight for a putter (or any clubs for that matter) .

For putter proper length and loft are the critical parameters IMO.

MentorSport Quadra II here. I have four weights in mine, the aluminum ones in front and the stainless in the back. Of course, I can't remember what those each weigh, but I know that Chin also sold a tungsten weight that was double that of the stainless.
He isn't too far from me, and still has some stock of the putters, but the business is gone.

SVonhof I kinda figured the business was gone. I think I tried to look up the website to no avail. I have seen them on eBay. Even thought of picking up a Duet for my kid, but don't really wanna spend $100+ on a putter for the kid right now... at least not until we get settled next month and I find a decent job.

For the record, the aluminum weights are ~17g, the stainless are ~50g, and the tungsten are ~100g.

I don't swingweight my putter. But I do like my putter heavy. VERY heavy. My custom slighter has a 425g weight head, and it also has a heavy shaft in it, at 33". For me, weight and length are the important specs. I think most people use a putter that's too long and too light, because that's what they sell off the rack.

I have added tape to a putter to get the SW to match another favorite putter, yes. Why not?

I have had a Triad II in da bag since they came out and can't see it going anywhere. I change weights in the spring and fall for changing green conditions. The Mentor Sports putters were nicely engineered and Chin had a nice website. Too bad they didn't make it. BTW, the weights are 1/2" O.D.. You can get various metal stock in that size if you want to fab up your own weights.

I don't understand trying to swingweight a putter. A SW value is a number relative to a fulcrum point 14" from the end of a shaft. How is that going to work with a 35" putter with a 350 gram head?

In case anyone wants to contact Chin, I do have his e-mail address and have chatted with him about it. I had lost my headcover for my Quadra and obviously no other headcover will fit. Once his stock of putters are gone though, that's it. He is normally the one selling the ones on Ebay that are new.

Swingweighting a club with the relative shaft flex of rebar does seem a bit odd.

              Been called "odd" before. 😃

I had an Odyssey putter that I loved. The headweight felt just right to me. My PING putter felt a little lighter in the head (in my hands) so i thought i would try to match the feel of the Odyssey. I put the Odyssey on my swingweight scale to get a value. I added weight to the PING until it matched that value on the SW scale. It worked for me.

sdandrea1 If you loved the Odyssey so much, then why switch to the Ping? I guess I might be asking the wrong person that question, huh... 🙂
