Thread started because Jamie Sadlowski is in the field. We all know he can crush 400 yarders, but can he play? I hope he makes the cut.

I walked that course a couple of years ago during The Colonial following my local favorite, Gary Woodland. Gary is considered long off the tee but he was neutered on this course because of the tightness and a few holes that had a slight dog leg so a lot of hybrid stingers from the box. Annika played in her PGA event (iirc) because it is among the shortest on the PGA tour. But, good luck Jamie...

He can actually play golf too. This might not be his ideal game, but if he has a caddy to tell him " hit the 6 iron off this tee, 285 is the dog leg you can't go through." He might have a chance to be ok.

He didn't give up doing something he was great at, and made tons of $$ from, to do something he sucked at. He can play. Just a matter of if the course suits his style, but I'm sure he doesn't care if it does or doesn't as long as he got the chance to find out. Should be interesting, and should pull in more viewers(that know who he is) & attendance.

**I just checked and he was invited into the field by the past champions committee, along with Beau Hossler. So, he will be 'hyped' as will Hossler.

He played in a PGA tour event a few months ago, as well, if I recall correctly. He's a good player, not just a long drive guy. Don't know if he's good enough to really compete on tour, but I think he's a plus handicap.

Not bad, not good. Could use quite a bit of practice on the putting greens; could have been under Par if putting speeds had been better.

Had a 254 7i shot after a 368 drive, but out driven by Tway.

Par4QC Yep. But in essence he hit driver, 7-iron to a 600+ yard par 5! That's just insane.

I suppose that everybody knows that he's not using his LD set-up off the tee. His LD driver is something like 48 inches long and has 4 degrees of loft. He's using more of a conventional driver for the tournament. That's the only reason Tway could outdrive him on that hole.

But to hit a 7-iron 254 yards is just insanity.

He seems like he'd be a great guy to play with on the weekends, especially if he was on your team in a scramble tournament.

But stroke play at the top level requires a bit more than prodigious length, especially with trees, water and other shit in the way (to quote the late, great Robin Williams). He's got some work to do with the short game and putting before he earns the minimum level of respect of a tour-quality player.

But his length is extremely impressive, nonetheless.

More proof that golf is not a distance contest. LD is a distance contest, golf is a game that requires ALL the skills.

sdandrea1 Yes, but 3 over par on that course in those windy conditions is not too bad. It's not a course that is particularly rewarding of length. He was only 3 shots behind Spieth. He beat a number of tour players. So he's obviously got skills beyond just long driving.

That said, he'll likely have to go below par by at least one shot today if he wants to make the cut.

Lots of potential, clearly has more than enough distance and swing-form to compete at the pro level. Whether he develops the mental aspects and short-game/putting is another story.

I've seen sponsor invites that were far less exciting though. It'd be interesting to see how he would fair with a year at the next level down at the Web.com, assuming he could figure out a way to get consistent enough to play at that level. I think there'd be a little less pressure on him, and give him an opportunity to develop the aspects he will need on the big stage. And enough time to find an instructor who could reel in his power a bit in lieu of more control of his ball flight, as well as his wedge play.

Peter Kostis ( I think) mentioned Jamie was working on reigning in his swing and staying under control, coincidentally while he was hitting a 2 iron about 250 yards for control, although he fanned it a bit

I've seen Sadlowski many times at the WLD events in Mesquite,and for being a guy of his stature who looks like a
kid next to Joe Miller or Mike Dobbyn,the dude has some serious golf skills.
Probably one of the best looking natural golf swings of the LD bunch.
I say give him some time to develop the short and mid range skills and he could be someone to watch on tour in
the future.
Seems like a pretty nice guy too,not all full of himself like some of the other guys who can bomb it over 400yds.

The guy is good, he's not the elite of the elite yet, but if he refines that short game, he can play with the big boys. He can go long, duh, but he's actually really accurate with the irons too, I was impressed, short game is solid, but not pro level. If he bring that in.. look out. I'm certainly not saying it's easy, nor that he can, but I'm not going to be surprised if he wins a PGA event in the next 2-3 years. It takes a hot week with the wedge and putter to win with that distance, it can happen.. see Daily
