sdandrea1 Agreed. It's good to play persimmon 195cc driver with steel and set of these blade irons every now and again to bring a golfer back to reality. Good to remember how good we have it.
I think PGA pro's now are good no doubt but the old guys after WWII to the early 90's were as good and in some ways better skill wise using a harder to hit ball and harder to hit clubs.
I think one of Nicklaus's opinion's on preventing old courses to be dominated with driver/wedge was take the modern driver down to 250cc and see how many missed center driver shots are being rewarded. Truth is PGA guys of today do miss hit center of club some and aren't penalized. Add in modern agronomy it's made the game a joke in many ways comparing era's of ball and clubs.
