I think that Pretti made a bad decision to carry that day. He had no obvious reason to carry but yes, he was legally carrying. He was on the scene and getting in the mix with his phone out and strapped with a gun. Pointing a phone in the face of these goons just agitates them and they're ARMED. Why? Just to show them he can? I don't believe for a second he was there there as a "domestic terrorist", but rather making a political statement "I'm armed because it's legal".

That being said, the armed moronic thugs with badges could not have handled that any worse. It was a melee of a clusterfuck taking him down. He was disarmed (on camera), and then somebody panicked and all the Barney Fifes emptied their clips. At least the video I saw indicates that.

It should not have happened. Given the current state of ICE trainees in the field, I would never show up to protest carrying a weapon. Those morons seem to be itching for a fight.

Just an observation, but he did not start this over oil. But he will end it over oil, perhaps very abruptly. He's asked other countries to come in and help with that situation only, they will not. NATO, at present, will not. They all need the oil more than we do, IF we do. Some of them need to move oil. And he knows all of that.
Plus, from all that I gather, it would take ground troops to open up the strait, if we are the only country trying. He's not going to send them in. I'd bet on it.

But, the idjit forgot that the U.S. imports tons from those countries, and production depends on oil. And it is going to cost us dearly. For years to come, not just 2026. Must figure it's a simple 'temporary set back' economically for us.
Then he'll try throwing money at us.😉After he's broken ol' Joe's inflation standards.

Par4QC There are plenty of options and he is open to any of them conditional on someone else helping. If no one wants to protect their own oil interests he may very well say our objectives have been met and leave it to whoever else wants to secure the strait. He also may say we'll escort your ships for a fee. Another possibility is to see what would need to be done to establish a base on Kharg island and take it as U.S. territory and then charge access to the strait.

Also, possible that he may tell Saudi/UAE or some other country that if they'll control the region and put forces in Iran that the oil is theirs until the people of Iran can resolve to co-exist peacefully.

I (my opinion only) believe that he had an America first solution in mind before starting it and is now trying to get a solution that will be more palatable to other countries if they will contribute. Until now, their solution was we don't care if Israel or a U.S. base gets nuked, it has nothing to do with us and therefore we won't get involved. Which is a fair approach, and not much different from achieving the objectives of the mission and telling the rest we don't care if your oil supply is not available, it has nothing to do with us. There will be economic consequences, along with the possibility of long-term benefits outside and within Iran if anyone at all would look for opportunity instead of short-term loss. Just as people have pointed out, he doesn't do things the same as was done for the past couple of generations. That doesn't mean it won't yield the same, better, or worse results, but the old approach has yielded progressively worse conditions in the middle east.

Israel started a holy war that's been Netanyahu's dream for 40 years.
