ode Ode, Typically, an acid or chemical bath would be used to break down rust. In this case, I believe it was a multi step process to nickel plate the pieces.
I have done a bit of sandblasting over the years and oddly at 2:55 I was saddened to see the number 277 be sandblasted away. I thought for a moment about the person who wrote that number, for whatever reason that seemed important at the time to be washed away after probably 100 years. haha
I was most interested in the assembly design of the pieces and it was there that I found the answer to my question.
