Which is a Better Deal?

2 identical cars other than color. Same options and model. Both in same great condition. Which is a better deal? The 2022 might have a couple years left on the warranty.
2019 $30k , 46,600 miles
2022 $37k, 25,000 miles

Depends on a few things for me. 1- I'd be looking st the book value myself before doing anything else 2- is there any wiggle room $ or does one have more than the other, and 3- if they both hold their value comparatively then the 19 as that is 7k you will not get back.

ode I didn’t get into wiggle room or anything, just 2 of the same vehicle. I was also figuring the 2022 but my life is basically one bad decision after another so I figured I’d ask here.

In general, I'd opt for the 2022, but part of it depends on how long you expect to keep it. If you expect to keep it less than three years, I agree with ode, that you might be better off with the 2019, But if you're thinking 5-7 years, then probably better off with the 2022

ptjn1201 That’s my opinion as well. I have given up on buying new cars so this is always the issue. One thing I will add is that the newer cars have far more computer/electric gadgets and can cost more for repairs or more for an extended warranty.

Depends to me on the make and model of the vehicle. Possibly the older one could be the better deal.

Typhoon lol.....i think more would agree with the 22 as the choice then the 19. Although 7k is a lot its not when factoring in the total cost.

The other thing to do is research the model year for reliability/bugs/etc vs the other. Sometimes year 1 of a generation has more bugs vs the last of that particular or newer model in the same gen.

Typhoon Can't go wrong, just ask your Dr, or the next player that asks if the course is open? Unless a huge change in design and no recalls, go newer.

At a 21,000 miles difference I'd go with the 2022. Even without any factory warranty left an extended warranty would be cheaper.

If you plan to trade in a couple years, older is depreciating slower than newer. If you plan to drive til the wheels fall off, less mileage is better.

Whatever make/model it is, see if you can find the reliability records for those years. It can be dramatically different even if the design is fundamentally the same. A critical component supplier might have changed; they could have moved assembly from Canada to Mexico; they could've added some "improvements" or cut costs that turned out not to be so good. The deal is probably about the same and so the difference is about a year of average driving. It could come down to which has newer/better tires right now.
