Once pushed a Yugo slightly up a hill to a gas station to help a rather attractive young woman and her mother get it off of the street. I was hoping for at least a hug but only got a thank you. Don't know what was wrong with it, but Yugos came and went from the scene so fast they couldn't have been much good.

johnnydoom I remember a local car dealership would give you a Yugo if you bought a Cadillac. Apparently the idea was the parent would get themselves a Caddy and give their kid a Yugo. Always wondered if anyone actually took that "deal".

You haven't lived until you've experienced running beside the car with one hand on the driver's door frame and the other on the steering wheel then jumping in to apply the brake.

Par4QC Only had to do that once, but I was very fortunate to have a downhill run. Have had a manual transmission for at least 2/3rds of my driving, including now. Usually always had jumper cables or now a capacitive starter.

Par4QC When i was a freshman in college my family went on vacation for a week but I was stuck staying home bass lf classes.

The day after they left the battery on my dad's Saab died. Luckily it was a manual transmission, and I knew how to push start a car. Unfortunately I had to do it at least twice a day for the whole week!

I would drive a bit further from my classes to get the car parked on a street with a downhill slope.

johnnydoom I did it a LOT back in college. Drove a '67 MG convertible, and getting it to crank was a crap shoot. My then-girlfriend had a sign painted for me one Christmas that read: "MG Car Co of Oxford..turning drivers into mechanics since 1930!"

BobA In college I work studied in the maintenance dept. One morning the supervisor grabbed several of us and took us to the business class building. There was an MG Midget parked in the middle of the second floor. Seems the owner got a bit drunk and obnoxious the night before and several of his “friends” picked up his car, carried it through the doors, and up the stairs to the second floor as a prank. We had to bring it down the same way and I remember being very surprised at how easy it was to pick the car up and carry it.

I can remember as an 8th grade student we were building a homecoming parade float in a fairgrounds building
and a pretty teacher had a new Corvair. Several of us boys got together and picked up her Corvair and carried it around to another building as a prank. She didn't think it was very funny when she couldn't find her car.
