Ceramic Coating On Vehicles

Anybody use a Ceramic Coating on their vehicle? If so, what brand and what results have you had.

Being my truck is 22 years old, black and stays outside, I'm considering using something to help with longevity.

Don't quote me on it but I believe it's a replacement for waxing.

I tried a cover, (4) but they're not what I thought they would be. ALL of them leaked, especially with snow. Which kept moisture on the paint (Bad).

A wrap us quite pricey. Plus I'd have to get PDR before any would be installed.

Looking for something less costly.

Results? How often do you apply?

I use Griots when I do paint correction. Their products are Top Notch.

I also use Griot's. The only thing I've used it on is my golf cart... about twice per year. It seems to work.
I've been tempted to try Meguiar's on my cars.

A couple times a year,but my car spends more in the garage than on the road.
A year and a half old and barely has 5,000mi.

I use this Turtle Wax ceramic spray a few times a year on our vehicles (I get about 6 applications per bottle). On my new Mazda CX-5, it makes it look great and water runs right off. On the 10-year-old Elantra that has not been babied, it does not do much as far as looks go (probably still helps protect it). The Elantra likely needs a clay bar treatment to really benefit from this, but it will likely never happen.

When I bought my '09 Tacoma and '12 Highlander they applied something called Zylon (sp?) that was hand applied and guaranteed 5 years. They had a demo car in the showroom that they applied Zylon to then put a swath of spray paint on the hood. After it dried they dragged a finger through the paint and the paint rubbed off. My vehicles are garage kept but they still look like new.

Bought some cheap stuff on Amazon called Shine Armor and it worked well on the cars. Used a Meguiars product once that worked a bit better, but took more effort too.

So many good products out there. I've been using Voodoo Ride Quick detailer and interior cleaner. Also use Nufinish 5 in1 quick detailer & clay kit . Just a bunch of different stuff, budget friendly stuff. Just bought a bottle of the Maxl One, to try as well.

I used AvalonKing Armor Shield ceramic coating in our Genesis Coupe shortly after we bought it.
I did do the prep work, so I took the time to do it right and so far the results have been phenomenal. The water still just slides off after 5+ years with no re-applications.
I bought 2 of the DIY kits and only needed one for our small car. They will send you info on the proper prep to do before application.
The prep work was more work than applying the ceramic coating, but mainly since it was over 100 degrees out the day I did it.
Basic prep is:
Wash and decontaminate, using any tar/bug removal as needed.
Clay bar.
IPA wipe (isopropyl alcohol)
They apply ceramic coating

I've been using Cerakote and it seems to work pretty well. Very easy to apply, I put it on a few times a year. Their windshield stuff works well too, seems to last longer than Rain-X.

My neighbor has an older Corolla and the headlights were so frosted up I doubt he had much illumination getting through. He used a 3M product on them and they looked like new and still do after a year.
