My field rating for this Major Championship is a super 87%, down slightly from 90% last year.
As usual, this will be the highest field rating of the year. The reason why it is down slightly from last year is that there are several players on the LPGA priority list that are either out on medical, out on maternity leave, or just retired. But make no mistake about it, all the LPGA players are teeing it up this week. All the top players are here, and many more.
Other stuff:
The LPGA has completed the first fifteen events on its schedule and they have had fifteen different winners.
Carlotta Ciganda's win at the Meyer LPGA Classic was the third win of her career and first in almost nine years! It was also the first win for a player from Spain this year.
Sarah Schmelzel missed the cut this past weekend, stopping her streak at 22 consecutive cuts made. Lydia Ko and Ruoning Yin now share the longest current streak with 18.
Players from Japan continue to the dominate the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year standings. They continue to hold the top four spots:
Rio Takeda 642 points
Miyu Yamashita 398
Chisato Iwai 372
Akie Iwai 322
The following LPGA members made moves in this week's Rolex Rankings worth mentioning:
Carlota Ciganda surges from 32 to 20.
Hye-Jin Choi also jumps into the top 25 rising from 29-25.
Both Ina Yoon and Amy Yang drop out of the top 25 this week.
Lexi Thompson semi-retires her way up from 58 to 50.
Somi Lee powers her way up from 75 to 60.
Nanna Koerstz Madsen advances from 71 to 64.
Outside the top 100:
Saki Baba springs up from 150 to 137.
Karis Davidson explodes up from 354 to 245.
