Have a FW head I that I wanted to add a tip weight to... graphite shaft. The hosel is roughly 30 mm. If I add the weight, there would probably be about 25 mm of the actual shaft glued into hosel.
Causes a bit of concern. Think I should be worried?
Proper prep and epoxy....no problem. That's giving you about 1" of shaft in the hosel. Done it myself, with no problems. A lot of fw heads are like this.
An inch is usually enough -- I'd take extra care with tip prep and cleaning the hosel, but you should be OK. I've done the same and had no failures.
Should be no issue with proper prep as others have said.
Cone inside ofthe hosel rim, use a longer ferrule ( 5/8 inch) if you want extra security ....blow the epoxy out of the shaft so as to ensue none goes up beyond hosel top which can assist with failure
