Mao Saigo's win last week was the second for a player from Japan this year. They Join the USA, Korea, and Sweden as Two time winners. The USA also has four runner-up finishes this year.
There were several players that had their cut streaks snapped this week: Celine Boutier (14), Nataliya Guseva (13), Charley Hull (10), and Patty Tavavtanakit (10), all missed the cut.
Jeeno Thitikul had finished in the top twenty in her last fourteen starts. That streak was snapped this past weekend when she finished 24th.
Mao Saigo's win was the fourth first time winner by an LPGA member this season, joining Yealimi Noh, Rio Takeda and Ingrid Lindblad (Takeda won last year as a non-LPGA member).
Lauren Coughlin, Haeran Ryu, and Angel Yin all earned their sixth top twenty finish this year at the Chevron Championship. They join three other players for the LPGA lead in that category.
In the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year race, Rio Takeda remains on top by a wide margin with 351 points. She is followed by Miyu Yamashita (270), Akie Iwai (175), Ingrid Lindlad (172), and Chisato Iwai (142).
Nelly Korda leads in the race for the Vare Trophy with a scoring average of 68.80. Jeeno Thitikul is second at 69.08.
As is always the case after a major championship, there was a huge amount of movement in the Rolex Rankings by LPGA members:
Nelly Korda, who battled back from a seven over par start to finish 2 under par, good for 14th place, actually increased her first place lead. She has now been on top for 58 consecutive weeks and 95 weeks overall. The 95 weeks is sixth best all-time. She will pass Inbee Park (106) and Yani Tseng (109) this summer.
Ruoning Yin moves into the top five this week, jumping from 6 to 4.
Hyo Joo Kim returns to the top ten, rebounding from 13 to 7.
Jin Young Ko also returns to the top ten, bouncing back up from 11 to 8.
Mayo Saigo catapults from 37 to 13.
Ariya Jutanugarn surges from 39 to 22.
Sarah Schmelzel leaps from 65 to 48.
Lexi Thompson semi retires her way up from 58 to 49.
Lindy Duncan skyrockets from 116 to 52.
Manon De Roey hurdles up from 96 to 78.
