Ferrule Preference

What do you like to use for iron sets? I have settled on black with silver rings as the standard. Silver rings match steel shafts nicely. I don't like them especially long, either. 5/8" is fine. Occasionally I will use another color to match a badge or medallion in the cavity, but that's the exception.

I'm pretty much a silver ring guy myself these days. And I don't like ferrules that are overly long either. Every time I see a "vintage" set of irons with their long ferrules its a little off putting.

I go with plain black and as small as I can, if it's a repurposing of shafts, sometime you have no choice. I don't like the rings.

You can't really go wrong with plain black. I use those on woods and hybrids so gotta change it up for irons.

I've heard it enough times to know stereotype fits...the thought that gays, especially gay men pose a risk to children has been around since I am able to remember and likely since the dawn of time.

I would have just pm,d my thoughts to Steve, but there are no pm,s on this board. Steve is a good guy, I feel strongly about that.

Back on topic....I for one will watch it... admittedly, I don't know much about Paterno and am interested to peel back the layers for some insight into his inaction.

Generally, small black plain. Once in a while, I might go crazy and install white ones.

Just plan black ferrules.
I like to use a longer one like 3/4" to 1" in the irons.

1 or 2 silver rings, 5/8".

I have always preferred the black 5/8", although I have not built a set in years! 🙁

I have Callaway Fusion pro irons, no real ferrule.

Black only on driver, wedges, usuall black only, but rings are ok.

Playing Ping G30 irons at the moment. We don't need no stinking ferrules.

Ping now uses ferrules on the new Ping G Max and G irons. I play graphite shafts in my irons and have never had a shaft break except for two on my Ping G 15 irons (6 and UW). Ping replaced them for free and said the ferrule adds no extra strength to prevent shaft breakage. My small anecdotal evidence would say otherwise.

Anyway, I just got fit for some new Ping G irons and I'm happy to see they put ferrules on them.

Only guys with small hands have to use ferrules.

My "go to" ferrule is black with either one or two silver rings. That said, if the cavity of the club or the shaft being used is heavy on one particular color, I'll usually use a ferrule with that color ring (if available) or even the whole ferrule that color with a complementing colored ring(s). I've always liked a color coordinated look to the clubs. It doesn't effect the play of the club at all but why not

Since all my built irons are Wishon, I just use theirs and stick with black or black with a red ring.

Definitely no long ferrules on irons. Looks to me like someone wearing knee socks with running shoes and standard shorts, pass, .............................unless it is on the LPGA!
