Maltby iron comparison

Trying to decide between the new STi Gen2 or the Ke4max (not the forged..can't see paying an extra $28 per head unless convinced otherwise). I welcome opinions.

I tried the Ke4Max (bought a 7 and then an 8 iron), and while I hit them well, I didn't care for what I felt was an extremely rounded sole from front to back. In the summer, when the ground gets harder, I felt I had some trouble
getting through the turf. Just my experience, of course, but I eventually sold the two heads to somebody on here.

If I were going to choose between the two right now, I would pick the new STi Gen 2 b/c the sole appears to me to be
more conventional. I notice that the Maltby Playability Factor for the Ke4Max is higher than that of the STi's, but I
would still go with the STi's. JMO.....Others may disagree.....

If you don't mind a slight threadjack, I'd like to add another club to the mix.....has anybody here played the
Dynacraft Prophet I saw mentioned in another thread a day or so ago? If so, what are your impressions of that one, esp. compared to the two Maltby products.....??

Those have been around for years! They're an excellent value and all round performer. I actually gamed a set for half a season in Florida. I like the extra offset of these over the Ke4MAX. They're $15/head, but stock at Hireko seems limited and Value Golf is out of stock.

Is that the current Hireko model Prophet that comes in either CB or Muscle Blade?

If so, I played the muscle blades for 6 months or so. It is a very decent head for $20. Performance was good, However, it does get beaten up pretty quick, and I also had two of the badges on the back that just came off and left an ugly club. I also played the previous STi2 from Golfworks - it was much higher quality at a comparable price. I would definitely take the new STi2 over the Prophet.

Ke4MAX is a Super Game improvement DISTANCE iron (strong lofts, big head) and Sti2 Gen2 is more of a midsize SGI club with slightly weaker lofts (1 or 2 degrees I think). Which one fits your eye and swing is up to you!👍😉

I have both of theses irons. Started with the STi and went to the KE4max. Both are great irons but the Max to me are just "better" for me and my swing. Although I will be taking the 7's of both to the range to see if this is still the case.

Re the KE Max heads, if you don't need the lies adjusted, the regular heads will work. If you need the lies bent 2+*s, then you will definitely want the Forged.

Loved the Dynacraft Prophet Forged heads, but they are long discontinued. They were akin to the Wishon 560MCs, imho.

I use KE4 Max irons when traveling. They can take a beating and still look new. They're accurate and feel surprisingly plush, considering it's 17-4 SS construction.
