Sneakylong An MIT Physicist

Why did it take a physicist to figure this out?

“Really,” he said. “It’s just about making the bat as heavy and as fat as possible in the area where you’re trying to do damage on the baseball.”

I'm loving torpedo bats, I was just in Laughlin and did a little sports betting- kept it simple, bet the over on all the Yankee and dodger games and won everytime!

Typhoon Maybe they can add a 6th finger onto the glove…

They did that back in the 60's.

Should be less balls out of play/fouled.
From looking at that bulge & roll.

Did anyone catch what the MOI was?

An interesting story about LS bats is one of my bud's dad was a major league player back in the fifties and used the LS bats. Every pro player who uses them gets his signature on the bat. My bud checked with H & B back in the 80's and was told that they still had his dad's signature on file. They made him 5 new bats with his dad's signature on it for his dad's birthday. 😛

This whole topic is based off one series against the Brewers at NYY Stadium a known launching pad in MLB. Against a injury plagued Brewers pitching staff. Brewers got shelled again Monday 11-1 vs. the Royals at their home opener with their patch work staff.

A long term stats. using the bats will show how effective they are. Maybe it's just against crappy pitching? ☺

This.......and don't forget, they still have to put the bat on the ball. Like my point on those stupid giant LAB putters. The player matters more IMO.

I haven't read through this, but it seems to me that it would shrink the sweet spot? I didn't know anything about it until 2 days ago.

LBlack14 but it seems to me that it would shrink the sweet spot

I don't think it shrinks the sweet spot. I just moves it to a place on the bat where a particular player normally makes contact.

Watched the Yankees v Dbacks game last night and they mentioned they've been using these bats for a few years now.

They've actually been around for a couple of years. Some players like them, some don't. If you like to hit the inside pitch, you'll probably like it.

azgreg How many Home runs?? This MIT guy is talking about custom fitting people for bats. Reminds me of the “puring “ BS

pellmell Really,” he said. “It’s just about making the bat as heavy and as fat as possible in the area where you’re trying to do damage on the baseball.”

Its no different than back in the day when bat handles used to be much thicker. Then somebody made the handle skinnier and moved more wood/weight to the barrel of the bat....which also resulted in more home runs
