I don't have any experience with having one, but we respond to calls from these devices fairly regularly. Most we see have a pendant with a button people usually wear around their neck that communicates with a base unit. Most have some type of fall detection, some have inactivity alerts, some have GPS capability. I know there are some phone apps that can dial someone, but I don't recall any responses that came in that way. We do get crash detections from phones, some are an actual crash, more often than not it is a phone that falls off a vehicle after being left on top. We do get a fair number of accidental or false alerts from the pendants, but we always respond emergent until known otherwise.
