ode Great....if I were in the area I'd be all over it. Friggin prices are insane for golf, don't know how people afford it.
scotts33 This is what muni golf used to be about residents of municipalities paid a very cheap rate as it part of the municipality infrastricture of city parks where everything else is free as Erik points out. Now muni golf rates are based off surrounding privately owned course rates. Cities make profit off of golf and prop up other free entities. ie. Disc golf is free in Madison, WI and 9's walking are just below $20. There is more upkeep and maintenance of a golf course so fine make it $10/9 walking especially for seniors and some are like this around the USA but there are fewer and fewer.
Rickochet scotts33 This is what muni golf used to be about residents of municipalities paid a very cheap rate as it part of the municipality infrastructure of city parks... I started playing golf in 1962 at age 12 in Louisville. It had a very nice muni golf system of maybe a dozen or so courses. I got a student pass for $125 and could walk any of the courses Mon - Fri. My dad would drop us off at daylight and we would play 54 holes per day every day it didn't rain and take a bus home. It was a great way to learn the game and give me something to do.
sdandrea1 The School House Nine in Sperryville, VA is similar. Nine holes, walking only, $15 for unlimited play. Grass roots golf.
garyt1957 Rickochet I started playing golf in 1962 at age 12 in Louisville. As somebody who started playing at 38, I'm jealous.
Bravopilot Rickochet I was 14, Weisbaden AB, Germany golf course. Shot 188 using my dad's clubs. Got it down to an 88 by the end of summer with my own clubs "min" set of Driver, 3W, 3, 5, 7, 9 SWW and putter set
raggmann54 I live about an hour away and take my grandson there to play a couple times a year...Great place to take kids to learn the game...
KCee garyt1957 As somebody who started playing at 38, I'm jealous. Nice to know there is at least one person that started playing later in life than I did! 30 for me although the first 10 years I played in a 9 hole work league and a couple of charity scrambles each year and almost no other rounds.
