Some of the blocking services are getting much better at deciphering the autodialer tactics. YouMail regularly blocks calls and labels them as suspected spam. I wonder if it ever makes mistakes and blocks a call I might've actually wanted but I doubt it.

When I look in my call history going back to the 14th I see 14 calls blocked by YouMail with 3 spam calls getting through. That seems like a lower week than usual.

I don't get many of those. My phone has blocked more than a few calls, all from marketing callers. Never even had my phone ring. Love my Samsung phone, definitely getting another at some point.

Who answers a call from an unknown number? I haven't done that in years. I don't know anybody who does.

Unwanted calls go down in frequency when they are immediately dismissed. Never answer a call if you don't know who is calling you. Problem solved. At most I get maybe one or two calls per week. Some weeks I don't get any.

Those running a business. Unless you know the customer well every number is an unknown number to you. There are times where I'm expecting an important call but have no idea what number it will be coming from so I'm compelled to let it go to VM and miss it or answer and take the risk it's a spammer.

rsvman2 I never do either. But I would if I was a sales person or business manager. You just don't know if that call is coming from someone that may result in great opportunities or with information important to the business.

I have customers all across the States and from many countries. I have a phone to keep in contact.

My wife often does. She has to know who it is and if it's not someone she wants to talk to she can then go "New Yorker" on them for fun. I used to tell her not to answer it, but I figure it wastes some of the energy she would otherwise use on me.

I'm in sales and I don't usually answer my cell unless I know who's calling. If it is a customer I haven't spoken to before they can leave a message and tell me what they need.

Due to this thread I think I'm going to start using the "Call Screen" feature on all numbers I don't recognize. Nice balance between not wanting to answer and concern the call might be important.

I like the fact you get a written transcript of what they're calling about. Works well but only if you aren't driving.

Somehow it's working for me. My phone weeds them out.

Easy for me, retired. If caller name doesn't appear, I don't answer. Eventually I check vm. 95% of time, no vm left.

propman exactly what I do. That said, if a number calls 2x in a couple minutes I pick up the 2nd time they call.
