Ping SFT Fairways

So after picking up a G400 SFT driver and seeing the ridiculous amount of draw bias it has i'm wondering, do the fairway woods alter shot shape as much? I can sometimes lose my 3 wood to the right. It's not a slice but it will leak right. I'll hit it straight a lot but almost never draw it. Seems the SFT would be perfect for me if it works as well as the driver. Anybody try one?

The PING G425 SFT fairway wood helped me all but eliminate the right side of the golf course. If you’ve read any of my reviews before, you know I love to play the fade. I was skeptical to do a review on a draw biased club for that very reason. The catch here is that this club isn’t automatically going to turn a slice into a draw. It uses a CG placement towards the heel to adjust your ball flight more left than before. Yes, it can help mitigate the right miss (for the right handed golfer) but it can also get you hitting a draw. That’s the toe side gear effect talking.

I used to swear by K15 fairways. First SFT models by PING. Nice low profile.

My experience with it is that it was not the automatic slice corrector as I found the driver to be. I don't know if it was the length of the shaft, the shaft itself (stock), the very low profile or me. I could not control it so I got rid of it.

Interesting. I wonder if turf interaction negates some of the draw bias as opposed to the driver?

I've never tried any of the Ping SFT fairways, but late last season I bought a Ai Smoke Max D 5 wood and I've been impressed with it. It's definitely draw biased, but like the G400SFT driver I had it mainly just wants to go straight. Really easy to hit off the deck. I have to be careful with it off the tee as that's where I've overdrawn a few shots, but I've rarely hit it off the tee.

I didn't like it due to the very flat sole + longer face. So, only 1 round with no other review.

Par4QC Your description of it is perfect. I never cared for the look of it… pancake. As far as performance…. I hook the crap out of fw’s already!

Eguller I couldn't use it. I hit my 3 off the heel quite a bit(mostly a deliberate swing) and it has a monster fade, going from left side of FW to perhaps right side of green. Can't imagine where my ball would be with 1 of these. 😄

I have the G400 SFT 3,5,7 and I would tend to agree. The 5 and 7 go straight for me. The 3: my miss is a pull but never a draw.

Been playing the Ping SFT drivers and fairway woods for years going back to when they first came out.

Currently have the G425’s and the G400’s as a backup.

Do you feel they give you good draw bias off the turf? I never hit 3 wood off the tee.
edit: Do you find the G425 to be longer than the G400? Reviews seem to say the G400 is short-ish. But it's because of higher spin on the G400 supposedly so that may even be a plus for me.

I hit them fairly straight. Sometimes a draw. I find the G400’s and G425’s to be similar distance wise. As were the G’s I had before them. As I remember testing found them all similar as well.
