Bravopilot It's not about what an agency says. It's about what studies show. If you give people phenylephrine or placebo for their colds, and you tell neither the doctor nlr thehpatient who got what, there is no way to distinguish the groups. This means that the drug has no measureable effect.
I think the original Mucinex (without any added meds) is also indistinguishable from placebo, or nearly so. The same goes for all over the counter cough supppressants ever studied.
Long Story short is that there aren't a lot of drugs that have efficacy in common cold. I listed the ones that actually work in an earlier post in this thread.
Oh, and not directed at you, but to the group in general... I wouldn't advise using Zicam swabs for common cold. They might help a little (or might not), but there have been a lot of people that have lost their sense of smell after using it. And the loss is permanent. And it happened well before Covid was a thing, so it's not that. It's rare, but if it happens to you, it's 100%, and for what? At best you might get better half-a-day earlier, if that.
