Questions for those members in the great white north

Those who reside in Alberta Canada, I have questions for you all.
It's looking like I might have the opportunity to visit Calgary this year.
This would be through work, not sure if it would happen again.

How difficult is it to get a tee time at Banf Springs?
Are there any unusual rules/ requirements for playing there?
What other courses around Calgary could be suggested? Not to replace, but more to play as a "consolation course", not sure I'd be able to swing Banf.
What are some must see places in Calgary, or things to do?
I'm sure I'll think of some more questions, so thank you for your time.

I've not been to Calgary or Banff but know many who have. The vistas on the course are apparently fantastic.

Banff is a very popular tourist area and the golf a resort course but you should be able to get on with advance planning.

other area courses that are well regarded include Silvertip and Kananaskis.

If you are there at the correct time the Calgary Stampede would be a huge must do.

Bravopilot yep, hauling horses. Sounds like team driving, one truck/ trailer. Not sure about the event though. I did ask questions there, got a few responses, I'll see if I get any more.

Walterjn If you're going in July, it is probably the Calgary Stampede....huge rodeo.
You'd be there almost 2 weeks.

Par4QC apparently boss lady's ex husband would help him out and drive as far as Montana. There he would fly back to CA, then at the end of the show, fly back to Montana, and help drive back.

I've put it on my bucket list. I just threw in a couple dates, May23 was one and they had tee times. $339 per golfer but that's Canadian, so $233 US.

Kanaskis looks good and only $120. Silvertip also at $150.

Also if you start on page 253 in the thread below you will get some good info on Banff (actual pics and review on 255). This guy has been on the road RVing all over the place and posts reviews, pics of courses, site seeing, etc. lots of good info. Looks like he drove up from somewhere in MT so you might even go earlier on in the thread for some additional ideas if you are driving a similar path. Sounds like there are quite a few good courses in the area and many that are better bang for buck than Banff.

My soon to be son in law played it last year and said it was awesome. He's a 20 plus cap and had alot of fun. Pricey but fun. Another friend played Kananaskis in the fall and said it was a great course as well. Can't offer any other info than that though...

I remember there being open times at Banff Springs last year when I checked, just not good ones. Mostly twilight. The course is expensive enough that they don't fill every single spot until a couple days out.

Kananaskis - they have a rolling booking system that opens early. Last season they opened one month of tee times per day starting late April. If you queue up for booking you can usually get a tee time, trick here is if you don't get one to keep an eye out for roughly 72 hours prior to the time you want to play as that's when the no-fee cancellation window closes. Demand is fairly high as it's not nearly as expensive as Banff Springs.
