Anybody else doing this?
Me and my little grandson just got started doing this and it's an absolute blast!
Here's our new printer and a few things we started making...
Eventually I'd like to design a new putter using this technology.🤔

I bought a WEEFUN 3d printer two years ago for my wife for Christmas. It is still sitting in the box with an extra spool of filament. I have never used one but did a lot of research trying to find one for my wife. The one I got is supposedly completely assembled and required no set up which I have read can be very frustrating. I never had any desire to tinker with it since I never found anything useful for me to make. And all I could print are files created by other people. Designing something from scratch is way beyond my skill set. Have fun with it and good luck in the design phase.

I wasn't sure if this printer would get much use,but it is super fun and actually quite easy to use.
Once you get the basic premise of steps needed to make something, it then becomes a point and click
process.
Maybe go on Printables or Thingaverse and see what people have made, some of the fidgets,puzzles,tools etc.
might blow your mind!

In my work, we use 3D printing all the time. Most of the things we print are TINY since what we make is so small. We have some "capsules" that are 3mm OD with a wall that is 0.1mm thick and then what is called an "engineered foam" layer that is lower density and again, 0.1mm thick and then another, inner layer that is a lower density engineered foam and a little thicker. It allows the liquid that goes in to fill the crevice's and form an even layer by using surface tension on the 3D printed structure. The "foam" is made up of bars that can be as thin as 0.001mm.

Pretty cool work, but way over my head. Have made and worked on items that went into space along with items that go into nuclear reactors.

jsippy73 then it likely isn't as far out of your knowledge base than you think! At least the small details. Getting in deep? Yeah, teams of PHD physicists think up some strange stuff!

Staying busy,made a few more fidgets (these things are addictive) and some
alligator chip clips.

Also made some golf ball marker chips.

So the printer came in pretty handy today when the stopper center actuator piece broke off in one of the
bathroom sinks.
Seeing how the nearest HD is about 25mi. away,I looked online at Printables and sure enough somebody
had made a copy of basically the same one.👍

Glued the new red piece back on the rod and it worked like a charm!
