sdandrea1 I should know this, but ... I have acquired a PING Chip-O that appears to be BeCu with an original PING/Aldila graphite shaft, original grip and a "signature" scribed on the sole/toe. Can anyone tell me more about this model? I've owned a few stainless steel Chip-Os with steel shafts, but this model is a unicorn to me. I sent an inquiry to PING as well.
SMT sdandrea1 That is Sammy Davis Jr. "signature". Early 70's for the club. I would like to have it if you are moving it out.
sdandrea1 Thanks Greg! I know all about the PING CHIP-O. I have only seen them in Stainless Steel and steel shafted. This one looked like a rare production model. I've never seen one in BeCu and graphite and with a "signature". I'm trying to determine if I should frame this or play it.
sdandrea1 darpar Got the same response from WRX. Apparently, PING made a complete set of SD Jr clubs that sold in auction for $3k. https://bid.goldenageauctions.com/bids/bidplace?itemid=28972
ode Remember some chatter about it after the ChipR came out. Basically an infomercial club. Fond memories of hitting full shots with chippers and putters as a kid🙃
SMT sdandrea1 Take a look at, or sign up for their emails and you will see auction prices, ONLY from these guys, that are so far out of whack you will never believe it.
SMT sdandrea1 It is. I already have a Bing Crosby (from the old Clambake) at Pebble Beach and a Bob Hope that I picked up in Palm Springs at Indian Wells during his Desert Classic
sdandrea1 bigshank You find this at play it again sports? Yes, by online order. Out of state. My PIAS was destroyed by fire recently. It was merely listed as a PING CHIP-O. No details and only one picture.
