Weirfan I also have a more upscale system in my living room with a McIntosh music server with about 750 mostly jazz and blues albums all in Hi Resolution ( FLAC) . I have made myself a music laptop that has another 2000 or so albums, again in Hi Res (several formats) but no lower than 24/96. This feeds a high quality DAC and into my amp.
Yes sir! You got it. When I first contracted cancer I decided that I'd invest in an upscale sound system. I've been into stereo systems and my own music since my early teens. My aversion to "streaming music" is quite simple. And, since you appreciate the importance of a quality DAC, I know you get it. I just can't! I've so much invested in vinyl and CD's along with interconnects, etc.. I cannot go down another rabbit hole. Music genre's? I like most everything in a range starting with orchestral (btw, Deutsche Grammaphon's new Original Source re-mastered collection is striking) to folk, acoustic, vocalists, rock - from Stones, Dead, Allman Bros., and on and on. along with a lot of damn good new artists!
