Looking For Recommendations For An Air Fryer

A bud of mine has been telling me how well he likes his air fryer that he uses for almost every meal. He has had his for years. I had a small one but my wife didn't like it and it was just another gadget on the counter. We just me now cooking at night I am thinking about getting one. Anymore I hate firing up the grill outside when it's cold or the weather sucks. I know absolutely nothing about them. Some key things I think would be nice is ease of use and ease of cleaning. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Rickochet When I renovated my VA house, I bought an oven with an air fryer. Used it often, first time having one. Bought this for my place in Las Cruces. Amazon today is $189. Very nice

We bought a new range a few years ago. We had the choice of a convection oven or air fryer. She selected the convection and maybe used that once. 😞

Rickochet I like the Ninja one I posted, Also, bought the paper liners, not hard to clean but these make it easier for my son. Many frozen things now "prefer" use is air fryer. I like easy and I needed something my son can do single handed.

Rickochet This house came with a 48inch Thermador gas stove, way too big for a house IMO. First time having gas, I like the burners but prefer to use the air fryer

We have a Ninja...not the same model that Paul has. It's about 2 years old and gets used almost daily. It's way better than the $40 air fryer that we had before. I think this one was over $100. It's great.

jsippy73 Which ever model people get an affordable oil mister and a pkg of replaceable liners will go along way to get excellent results...both on Amazon or eBay.

I am overwhelmed by the choices. A basic question might be is the "oven" type with front door or one with the slide out drawers?

If you do a search for "Ninja" you get a bazillion hits. 🤪

I had a cheapie from Amazon that had a 2.5qt. single basket and it didn't hold much and was awkward to use. I think we used it twice and it went in the cabinet and we finally gave it away.

Air fryers have come a long way in the last 15 years.

Rickochet Yeah, same here when I was looking. Lots of different rankings. My son already had Ninja blender and crock pot thing. Not cheap and solid products in spite of the cheap name (IMO). The one I got is bigger than it looked on Amazon. Does take up room and high enough to project heat to the cabinet it sits under.

I need the handles for my son as he has one arm that works. Going to try the "oil mister" as Tim @backinit posted.

The Ninja also does Air Broil, Dehydrate, Bake. Not sued these options yet.

After poking around a bit more I think I am looking for a unit that will replace my electric range and have grilling cabability when the weather isn't good so a front door oven type might work best for me. But, there are a bazillion choices also. 😐

Bravopilot I light spray of oil will take fries (cut from potatoes) to a new level.
We use our microwave a lot less with a good air fryer...great for frozen pizza a long with reheating pizza.

I finally pulled the trigger on an air fryer. I ordered a 26.4 qt unit from Amazon. It is a brand name I wasn't familiar with but it had good reviews and I found the company's website that showed a brick and mortar addy in NJ and phone number. I also got the extended warranty for 48 months.

This is from the Kitchen Elite website. I could't get the Amazon pic to load. Anyhoo, $151 shipped from Amazon and will be here today. First attempts will be to grill a ribeye for dinner and make some oatmeal cookies. I also have a bone in turkey breast I am going to air fry for Thanksgiving. 😋

Rickochet Looks good, I like all the options it provides. Recommend the parchment paper they list with it, really makes a difference on clean up, especially the wire mesh tray. The one I had in my VA house, I had the run the mesh tray through the dishwasher after each use. Now I just toss the paper away.
