I took my boys to Dicks yesterday (one needed baseball cleats, one a mouthguard for lacrosse). We had some time so we roamed around for an hour or so. It was pretty nice seeing ALL of the clubs in hand. I watch a lot of YouTube golf reviews but gettig clubs in hand is a much different experience. Based on my quick look, here is what my "bag" would look like if had walked out with 14 clubs*. (This was purely an intellectual exercise)
D - Callaway Quantim 💎 💎 💎 Max. I wanted to like the Cobra Max K but I just can't get over Cobra's 📐 shape. Quantum looks great and seems to be a good mix of forgiveness and low spin.
Mini - TM R7 mini 13.5. The only other mini they had was the Titleist GT 280 which just looked too small by comparison. Would have loved to see the PXG and Callaway ones.
Driving Iron - Ping DI (2/17°). I like these as a "get it up there" club after a wayward drive, off the tee on tighter holes, or second shot on a par 5.
7w - TM Qi4d Max. The shape looks good and confidence inspiring.
6-GW - Ping G730 (retro spec). I suck at hitting irons and just want all the help. (Would have gone with single lengths here if they have any in the store!)
SW Cleveland CBZ 56
Specialty - Ping ChipR and BunkR. I'm ready to go all in on these. I actully have a Cleveland Smart sole chipper which may make my actual bag this year. I also have a Ping Glide Eye 2 LW so it may be replaced with the BunkR when needed. I dont often hit a 5I, so I'd be willing to trade it for the specialty club here.
P - LAB Mezz 🧹. It was the only broomstick in the store and it was eerily amazing. I may explore. 🧹 In real life!
