johnnydoom Spartan My memory is not good, but Westport was where I saw them. Pretty sure they were together as my only real interest was to see America. Don't think I would have gone to a Three Dog Night concert independently, but I did enjoy their music in the show.
Par4QC Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens (Waylon Jennings had lost a coin flip for a seat.) Feb. 3, 1959, the day the music died..........
mulegolf Par4QC Clear Lake, IA is less than 3 hrs. SE of me. Every time I get down that way I want to stop and see the Surf Ballroom. As yet, that hasn't happened.
Spartan propman IIRC, it was on the border between Homewood and Glenwood, off Halstead Street, just south of I-80.
rsvman2 johnnydoom Three Dog Night was my very first concert. It was when I was 9-ish. Still remember it.
Walterjn Kinda interesting, sounds like @Spartan & @johnnydoom were at the same concert and didn't know each other then...
johnnydoom Walterjn Yeah. I only lived in St. Louis (Maryland Heights) for 7 years as an apartment dweller from 84-91. Wanted to stay longer, but my girl didn't seem to want me nearly as much as I wanted her, so I moved back south for my sanity and so she could go find someone she did want.
propman Spartan thanks. I had to look it up. Crazy how I don't remember it. Early/mid 70s were my concert going days as well.
johnnydoom azgreg I never saw him play, but I know who he is even though I'm a pretty casual fan. RIP Mr. Jurgensen.
Moeman Was just reading that. Another one of my/our childhood hero's gone. Forgot he played for the Eagles. RIP...
mulegolf Spartan The Cubs were my favorite NL team back in the days when Billy Williams was playing. Well, I guess they still are although I don't follow them nearly as much as I did back then when Williams, Ron Santo, Ernie Banks and Ferguson Jenkins were playing.
