I went to the US Open at Pebble Beach back in 1991. In the opening round, Fuzzy four-putted the fourth green, then bounced back with a birdie on the old fifth hole.
There was a back-up on the 6th tee. Somebody approached Fuzzy to ask him for an autograph for his nephew. Fans weren't supposed to interact with the players like that, but when a marshal tried to intervene, Fuzzy waved him off.
As he was signing the booklet, I heard him ask the man, 'Are you sure your nephew still wants my autograph after the way I putted on four?'
You gotta love him.
