New to me Lawn Tractor

Didn’t clean it up yet. Woman across the street is moving so she was pushing me to take it. Easier for her which I could see. Bigger than I thought. 25 HP, 48” deck. I was hoping for smaller. Sorta figured with the plow it had to be a big engine. It’s from 2020, only has 20 hours on it.

Nice little tractor. I had one very like that, an E130 that I bought from Lowes. Lowes also carried that one, as did Home Depot at the time. I didn't have a plow but did buy a snowblower attachment from my John Deere dealer. Yes, you need weights. They are 45 lbs. each and you'll get 2 and a mounting bracket. Also, don't forget chains if you get the blower. The chains that I first got from my John Deere dealer didn't fit. They were too small. I ended up getting some from an online retailer, The Rop Shop. I traded the whole set up to the John Deere dealer for a bit larger unit that has power steering. I at times had trouble making quick turns because the unit, with the heavy snowblower on it gave me all kinds of pain in my arthritic hands and wrists in the cold temps. I think you'll like it. 🚜 I also opted for a soft cab which helped
me tolerate the Minnesota winters and an electric actuator the raised and lowered the snowblower.

Nice! I had a JD smaller version for years. Gave it to my son 10 years ago and now my SIL/grandson have it. Easy to maintain, reliable.

Major score with the plow. It should work great with the 1/2" of snow/rain mix that you get.

[deleted] Yeah, I don’t know about the plow. First off I’d need to buy wheel weights or chains, I’d have to check with John Deere, there is a JD place next to one of my Walmarts. Secondly, my driveway isn’t flat and I’m afraid of killing the belts going up the driveway.

Maybe good with powder? But I have an Ariens beast of a snowblower. They used the plow once. So the plow might end up being sold, haven’t decided

It wasn’t free! Long story where she doesn’t have it easy. Kid at home that is pleasant to talk to but has been arrested here and there for dealing, in and out of rehab, had someone break into the house to steal her jewelry … to talk to him you wouldn’t think… but he has gone door to door in the neighborhood begging for money. And this is the tip of the iceberg.

Her husband passed away a few months after they bought this too. So she’s moving to an over 55 to get away from the kid. Sold the house to our neighbors son… all good.

So I told her to sell it on marketplace because I knew I could get my friends fathers Toro for short money but you could hear the desparation in her voice not wanting to deal with it. So it cost me more than the Toro would have but I feel good to have made her happy.

Had to order a strap for the bagging tube. Pain in the ass that was to put on when it’s new. Here it is with the tube. Cut with it yesterday. Takes some getting used to over my old one but a much better ride.

LBlack14 I used to mulch with my Bolens Mulching mower. My tractors though came with the bags. I’d rather mulch… It’s a pain in the ass… I have a fence I have to open every time and try to dump it down the hill so I don’t get the stank in the yard during the summer.

At our place in Utah we had really thick rye grass that grew pretty fast in the summer,
I had to use the bag on my ZTR otherwise the clippings would just pile up in the yard.

There is probably a mulching kit available for that model. My Toro ZT does mulching but I only use it for leaves in the fall. In my city you cannot use black plastic trash bags unless they are placed in the city supplied waste carts. We have to use 30gal. of smaller trash cans marked "Yard Waste". I would need a dozen to do my grass clippings. So I just discharge the clippings into the yard. My yard looks as nice as my neighbor who bags his and has a bud who picks up the clipping bags.
