We bought a 2008 that had been refurbished and converted to AC power, 48v with 2 month old batteries. We have had the cart for 1.5 years and just replaced the batteries. The batteries in it were lead acid, but no marks or labels as to who made them and they were bought locally for $180 each. Crap product. We replaced them with Trojan's and hope to get 5+ years out of them.
It was $1500 all said and done. If we wanted to lithium, it would have been $3500. It would be a 10 year warranty vs the 3 year of the Trojan's, but we bought the cart for $6500, so over half the cost of the cart for batteries only? Nope. I do know that it would have saved about 300 pounds of weight, but it is what it is.
We will likely buy a newer cart before these batteries go bad though as we would really like a cart with softer suspension. The 2008 EZGO set up with Loadstar tires on it is really bumpy and I know the newer carts are much better (and fewer squeaks as well).
