Tour Edge e523 driver vrs. Ping G400 Max

Both 10.5 Regular stock shafts. I'm 73 years old. Went to a local driving range shortly after they picked balls. Was the only one there. 3 dozen brand new Vice Pro Plus orange/yellow blend. I'm not a big hitter. Numbered balls were one driver, even, the other. Range was wet with little to no roll. Hit some white balls to warm up. Both clubs feel about the same to me. Alternated every three balls hit. After hitting went out and picked all of them up while writing down the distance from where I was hitting from on a chart I made using my golf gps. The Tour Edge was consistently 7 to 9 yards longer. 215 to 224 vrs. 208 to 217 with the Ping. A few misfits were not counted and dispersion was very equal.

Good experiment! What shafts are in each head? I.e., what is the "stock" shaft?

I tested my Callaway Paradym X driver with 3 different shafts and the Aldila Ascent 40 A makes that head act like its been juicing.

Tour Edge is the best driver on the market, especially considering what they are selling for now. Read some reviews on it.

My current gamer…TE Exotics C722 with HOF Code 5 shaft…is as long & consistent as anything I have bagged in years…actually might be the longest… but I haven’t awarded that medal yet…much too early in the season 🤣

Look no further then TE if you must go OEM and don't want to spend gobs of 💰💰..not a fan of the limited shaft options but thats another thread!

It seems like a good driver for the price. But if distance is what you are after, i'm not sure Ping ls the right competitor. Lots of drivers that are generally longer than Ping. People who really lone their Ping drivers are usually people who are after consistency and forgiveness, rather than distance.

Played yesterday with BIL and Nephew. Hit Bil's Callaway Epic A flex 13 degree, felt like I killed it as did the other two guys. Get there, same distance as always. Later hit my nephew's stiff Cally Maverik 9 degree, thought I killed it, even let out a little "ooh!", get there, same distance as my PXG. My TM M6 is maybe 10 yards longer on good hits but it has a 47" shaft compared to 45" for my PXG. Choke up a couple inches and it's close to a bit shorter than the rest. All in all, I just don't think there's anything out there longer than anything else for me.

Looking for more distance from driver head-driver head is kind of futile.

Look at the shaft & flex.
Find the ball that fits.
I see those 2 things as the only way to more distance, with a person's current swing speed.

I hit three drivers, A flex, reg and stiff. Other than feel theyt all went the same.Except for the one with a 2" longer shaft.

Agree. Find a driver head that you love the feel/sound and then just test a few shafts. It all equals out then..... 🏌♂

And I use A, religiously. 😄

garyt1957 No question there. I was swinging good and took my OG SIM, Stealth 2 Plus and G400 max to the range. With the TM heads I could interchange the 2 shafts. And the Ping was the same shaft as the others but a different flex. Everything went the same.
