Using new clubs

So I have issues.

I sold off the TW set I was selling. I had them in my bag until I sold them…. Didn’t know it’d happen. So now my clubs are the brand new TW set I got last October and are still in the box. I’ve never had a new set of irons and these are so beautiful I can’t bring myself to use them. I went and put the demo 7 iron back in my bag with my Driver, putter and 2 wedges.

I am tempted to get iron covers but I just can’t, it’s one of the many signs of a beater.

Typhoon You are too good of a golfer to not play. Bag them with pride and play some golf. If you sell them you’ll just piss the money away. If you keep them in the box you can’t take em with you. Plus you won’t be this good forever. They always say use it or lose it correct?

Been there! Actually still doing that. Have a set of Apex 21 that I got, well, in '21. If you find some on the rack that looks better, buy them. I have taken them out and hit just a couple of them. And....FU😄.....I put the covers back on after cleaning them on the spot!!

No clue as to why I even bought the 'set', 5-GW. Like Steve, I may only use a couple during any round. Could have just got single irons from CPO.

I would never buy a used set of forged irons. Beat. To. Hell. Every time. So are 'those' people's other clubs, inc. putters.

sdandrea1 Every year I plan on playing. March and April are too crappy and I can’t get out consistently so I don’t bother starting. I’ve always been someone who either plays multiple times a week to stay good or will just quit altogether…. Which was what I did when the wife complained about me playing.

So we’ll see… the intent is there but if it’s all shit golf going out when I want to play and don’t get out, forget it.

Me. I want my clubs to still look good if/when I decide to sell them. I used to go to absurd lengths to make
them look good when I sold my used clubs. I'd polish out most of the scratches on my irons with stainless polish bars and a buffing wheel and then re-blast the faces so they looked mostly new also. The clubs would look like I'd used them once or twice before selling them. Now I've given that up but still want them to look as good as possible...so, headcovers.

You have to want to play enough to put up with the "cost" (weather, wife griping, etc). If it's easier to just not play, then maybe you don't really WANT to play. Do you miss it?

I LOVE playing golf for lots of reasons, and can't imagine just stopping because it's too much trouble. Maybe you can find some close friends that you enjoy playing with and schedule a regular outing? The camaraderie might get you fired up again. Don't make me come up there and drag your narrow ass out on the course!

I don’t miss playing whatsoever. What’s funny is at my old course I had a group I’d play with M/W/F… and I’d be pissed if work got in the way and I’d have to miss a week. Loved their company probably more than anything else. Now at my course I would just go out by myself. When she started bitching i just said screw it and didn’t miss it. I’m good at giving up stuff I like cold Turkey.

I look ahead, I have a dermatologist appt, AC cleaning, wife to tattoo place coming up in addition to buying mulch for the yard , power washing, fertilizing…. Let alone I work 5 days at 3 pm in the pro shop.

Now, to me, that's just a beat to hell club. I couldn't own that. It would bother me that it looks bad. It looks "well used"
and I know a lot of golfers don't care how they look as long as they work... I'm not one of them. That would be hiding
in my basement and eventually I'd throw it away. No disrespect intended to you but it would bother me.
