KCee wtf is chess pie?
I got that one (being of the south), but subbed some other thing for attitude in mine.
Chess pie is a gooey custard baked in a pie shell and often topped with a crumb coating. My best description of it is that it is a pecan pie without the pecans. I don't think it has the syrup that pecan pie has, but it ends up with a similar texture and flavor. I'm not terribly fond of it, nor pecan pie, but various plain and flavored (chocolate, coconut, etc.) are, or were, popular here in the south. Less popular these days though. I think it was once popular because it used ingredients all common to the everyday kitchen and was cheap and easy to make.
