Apparently Traylor, Timmons, and McConnell were cut. Kind of liked what I saw of Traylor, but I figured Raven would definitely be the new guard kept since everyone else is already signed. I think Traylor, and maybe Timmons will probably resurface somewhere.

johnnydoom If they should clear waivers(48 hrs.) Fever could bring them back, or maybe just 1. Traylor may be a good candidate for a developmental deal. They have room for only 1 player.

Have seen several vids of Fever practices. McConnell cannot make a basket from anywhere.

johnnydoom Traylor was absolutely horrible in the last game. Probably guaranteed her cut with that game. Before that, I thought she looked good. They need to sign a big for developmental, they have way too many guards.

garyt1957 I agree with the need for another big more than a guard. I also don't think Traylor is ready for prime time, but of the three I thought she showed the best potential and may be better in the long run than either of the two experienced backups they have. But I'd rather see them add another over 6'3" player if they can get someone decent off waivers.

This is a make it or break it year for CC. If she is just good, very, very good even, the hype will die. She needs a top 3 MVP type season or a lot of people will fall off the bandwagon. Oh, she'll be a perennial All Star and make the Hall of fame but the expectations for her have been so incredibly high she needs a 22-5-10 season and a good run in the playoffs. Anything less, especially if the Fever don't win the title and the CC hysteria is over.

garyt1957 Her season is going to depend a lot on how she 'is allowed' to play, imo. If she is going to be handled like she was those 13 games last season, she'll be gone next season, even after the Fever picked up her 4th year option. Unless White goes down the road.(but I do think management is handling her performance, through White)

If she is not allowed to play her game, then we will know that the owners are merely milking her name, not her game.

Something is just not right in Indy. It's telling when they signed Billings to higher pay/longer contract than Sophie, and more money than they gave Lexi. And Kelsey is only a 1 year deal.

Looks like I’ll only see the 1st qtr. live. Wife has plans for me. Should be a fast paced game. If White starts playing Caitlin at small forward again I’ll definitely be one that checks out. Only reason I started watching was in hopes that Caitlin would bring a new style other than the half-court prison ball. If the league is determined to continue dragging her down to that then I’m not interested.

johnnydoom You will need to find the replay and watch the whole game. 1st game of the season for both teams and it may be the best game we will see in the WNBA this year. jmo, but it was that good! 3 players on each team with over 20 points each.

Dallas will not be getting the #1 pick next year. They got holes in their game, same as the Fever, but with a stitch here and there they will be around a long time at the end of season this year.

Now I'm going to check in on A'ja and see if she has 83 FTs yet in this 1st half.* OMG.....these 'touch-them-not' calls this year. And it only takes just a touch.

edit: *Well, not sure what's going on in that game with the refs. Phoenix only has 4 fouls at the half, and Aces only have 10🤔. A'ja has been to the line only once.

Par4QC I recorded the rest of the game, avoided all media, and just finished watching the rest. Great game, and Dallas is loaded up with shooters all over. Caitlin seemed to have a lot of problems controlling her dribble today.

It's only one game but honestly is it time to admit CC is just not a very good 3 point shooter? 34% her first year, 29% last year and 2 for 9 today
Even in college she was 37% which is pretty good but not exceptional. She had open looks today.
Meanwhile Kelsey Mitchell is career 38% from 3.

3 point leader is around 45%(career).

johnnydoom she has struggled with her handle in the preseason too. I suspect she just isn't quick enough against tough defenders. Although she lost control a few times today against no pressure.

Par4QC Not even close. I know you love CC but you have to admit 34% is not good and 29% is pathetic, especially if the 3 point shot is your calling card. 45% is SO far ahead of 34%, are you really saying that difference is negligible?

WNBA games so far are averaging over 50 called fouls.

Well, except the Aces game. Was only 25; only 10 calls against Phoenix at that.🤔

I’m actually a little worried that Caitlin might not have much left. For a player that age to have to leave the floor for an in-game back adjustment in the first game of the season is a pretty bad omen.

Well, that 34% was 122 baskets in 2024. Tops in the league. (she also had most attempts)
It's all in how one wants to look at it.....poor shooting, or points made from.

I do see your point, 34% of 100 is nasty. But let's look again at what any of it means.

A'ja lead the league in 2024 in field goals made(also most attempts) 385/743. Not a bad %?....only 51%. Griner lead with just 57%.
Keep in mind where those 2 take 90% of their shots from. A'ja only took 19 3 point shots all season.😉

But yeah, I like CC, more than just on the court, and she is a good 3 point shooter. Perspective. Not %. jmo

People love seeing her shoot the 3s. But they have forgotten why it is supposed to be exciting.....not that she shoots them....it's always been about 'from where' she shoots them. Today everyone goes apeshit when just shoots 1. From any place.
