LBlack14 Wife got a Visa Vanilla(?) for $50 at Christmas. Went to use it, nada. She had to do something online. Think she said it could take, up to, 90 days to resolve.🙄
Sneakylong Gift cards currently in my wallet. Jersey Mike’s, Carrabba’s / Bonefish Grill, Cheesecake Factory, Hooters, Olive Garden / Longhorn Steakhouse. Love getting gift cards for restaurants.
rsvman2 Anybody remember Mitch Hedburg's one-liver about gift cards? Something like this: Gift cards are a terrible gift. They take money that was good anywhere... (he would slow down and pause here; many times the audience would start laughing and eventually laugh so much that he never delivered the punchline). The punchline is obviously '... and turn it into money that is only good at one place.'
Sneakylong Par4QC You can use that at Red Lobster also Yes, part of Darden restaurant group, along with Cheddar’s, Yard House, Bahama Breeze and Seasons 52. Edit: Darden sold Red Lobster in 2014. That’s why it’s not on the gift card I have. Lol
backinit We started buying our grand daughter gift cards for the one store that she likes. The new work ownership gives us visa gift cards around the holidays...at least we can use those anywhere.
DC300 ode I’m guessing what they do is get the card info, wait for somebody else to pay for it and then use them numbers online, easy pickin at holiday times.
JOHNCOINS Sneakylong am I missing something here. I was reading about the woman the reporter with the $2,000 in CVS cards. She's said there was smudges where the code was but then in the interview it says the card looked fine even said if tampered with do not use it looked fine so which is it. The only way I can see this working as a scam is only if the scammer took the actual 16 digit and expiration date off the front of the card put it back on the rack knowing that someone's going to come in and buy it because it's the first card on the rack and then every once in awhile run the card and see if it works.
