They are available year round pretty much but the image below identifies the peak season. I typically eat an avocado when it’s got a firm (not hard) feel to it where you can depress it slightly, if that makes sense. I buy them when they are hard, but it depends on how many I need because once they start getting that firm feeling they will progress quickly, although you can put them in the refrigerator to stall the process some.
