Shaft pulls question

This is just a general question to help me in buying or selling shafts.

If I pull a shaft from an OEM head, should I assume that it is a "made-for-company" shaft? Is there a way to tell?.... Are certain companies known for using aftermarket shafts?

TheBlade Aftermarket shafts typically are in the $250-350 range. These are the same names of (some of) the shafts you find in the OEM drivers in the stores.
At the same time, you can 'customize' drivers and some of the offerings come with no upcharge. I'm guessing that means they are just cheaper shafts that fit within the original pricing, not 'made for', as different OEMs will offer the same shaft also with no upcharge.

I don't think anyone really knows any more. Unless the OEM has their name of the shaft, along with the mfgr.. Most used to say 'made for'. I don't see that any more.

I would just put 'pulled from XXX driver' in any ad. Let buyer determine. And...don't feel you are cheating yourself out of big bucks. Chances on that happening are nil.

TheBlade Certain companies are known for using made fors, but I can't tell you which. TM for sure.
One thing that's common is the aftermarket shafts will be offered in say 60 and 70 gram versions but the OEM one will look the same but will be a 65. There are a lot of made for shafts that don't have the club company name on them, unfortunately.

TheBlade Try to match up the photo of the shaft in the ad with a picture on Golfworks. If you see the shaft and the graphics don’t match, it’s most likely a made-for.

In most cases The made for shafts will have the the Company ( Taylor Made etc) on them.

Yeah, you need to do some research. Like Don said the weight on the made fors won’t be the same as real one. Maybe a slightly different model …. You gotta due your part.

That also applies to steel iron shafts.

Funny thing is some of the made for’s are actually better for the average swing speed player than their name counterparts or at least as good
I had one a few years ago, can’t remember which but it was perfect. I tried to build a back up and the aftermarket shaft just wasn’t the same

That's the reasoning behind it all. One might think the OEM club people know more about golf shafts than the golf shaft people themselves!!

An older 6i head used to be around 265g. Now the new 6i heads are around 260, if that heavy. Both built at 37.5" using the same flex shaft.

What could possibly be wrong with that picture? Why, in the last few years, are people having such trouble finding the correct shaft, that works for them?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm gonna try to get rid of some stuff. Didn't want to give up any Mona Lisas for $12 shipped... lol !
