Recent reminiscing by a few of us about the "Top Flite Tour OMG" thread and the unfortunate passing of Steve Almo got me thinking about the old FGI days. Let...

There was a guy in Ireland who I sold component heads to a few times. I think his name was Darrell but I don't remember his FGI name. Really nice guy and always super appreciative that I was willing to ship internationally.

MidwayJ Had several transactions with Daryl also. There was also a Lars from Sweden that I shipped a lot of toys to, esp. the Blue Velvet shafts.

And then there was @RedC from Maylasia😄. Not sure if he ever joined up here but still see him on FB at times.
I'll bet that name rings a bell for you @MidwayJ. iirc, you shipped some items to me to forward to him, as I did a lot of times.

Par4QC That sounds familiar about shipping items for you to forward, but I wouldn't have remembered the country he was in.

Yes I remember sending packages to Ireland but cannot remember the FGI name🤔. I don't.think I ever shipped to Sweden but did to Iceland once. It was a fairly easy process....if the people.at.the PO knew what they were doing🙃

Bernie died in 2018 at 83. Besides being a pioneer in the long and light driver concept he was involved in the development of the various Neufinder (NF) spine finders. Nice man. I chatted with him often.

I helped Dan Neubecker with Bernie, Dave Tutleman and Tim Hewiit develop the NF4 with the kg calibration. Tim Hewitt maintained a deflection profiling site for a few years then took it down.

I liked the pics you posted of your NF4. I never went beyond my NF2 with the old W99(?) spring. I enjoyed building it and following the NF stuff on a website. Are Dan and Dave still tinkering with golf stuff?

Unsure Rick as I haven't been in touch with either of them for a few years.

There were so many good guys in clubmaking over the years before major brands got involved in their marketing schtick. It more or less ruined the clubmaking for little guys and their improvements and thinking out of the box.

fatshot Bernie was probably solely responsible for 75% of the Chicago Gold 966SD driver head. I had an 11 degree that I only sold 2yrs ago and regret it. It was a better head for me than the Big Bertha. I've tried to scrounge up a 13 degree over the years to set up as a mini driver.

Yep, I put a lot of deflection shaft profiles on that site.

MidwayJ yeah I sent him a ton of gear over the years......I think he was Daryl McGuire from Dublin......I just went to the old FGI page where the goodbyes are still there and one of them is from graz .... I think that was him🤔.....but I could be wrong on all accounts (last name and.city)

I've played golf with @ode and @scotts33 on trips to Wisconsin. Coincidentally, most of my wife's family lives where Chad does and my parents live where Scott does.

The last time I played with Chad it seemed like he was hitting his drive 40 yards longer than the time before. I knew I was probably losing distance with age, but I wondered if he was on the juice. 😉 Didn't look like he had bulked up, though. 😀

MidwayJ we went to Quit Qui Oc and played the original 18 or since have learned the front 9 is the only original holes and the original back was let go during/after WWII......back 9 as is now, was later added on, as was the Glacier 9 (newest with separate clubhouse) which is a real treat. I played it for the first time this year and have since went back several times. It's quite the course with lots of elevation change and cool land movement. Tom Bendelow did the original holes....and Art Johnson the Glacial. A shame the the original back Bendelow back 9 is not around as that piece of the property is where it really starts have some roller coaster like land movement, as does the glacial 9. Good clean fun we had that day👍

LogicalOne Yep on that golfshaftprofile dot com site that Tim H built. There was room for Deflection profiles and frequency shaft profiling but most 11" measurements were iffy mostly because of frequency meters and clamps mostly 5". The Kaufman slip clutches seemed good. John Kaufman Waukesha, WI ClubScout built me a hydraulic clamp so clamp pressure could be the same every time. Tim Hewitt put a lot of time into the clubmaking industry. ICG, PCS before that.

If you are in Ohio, KY that area of the USA and looking to be correctly fit Jim McCleery is your guy! Jim puts a lot of effort in the ICG.
