DC300 CoR is the same, but MOI is much better now. The Wishon 919
THI was touted as being a high MOI driver when it was released. I think the MOI of that driver was around 3990. My new Mizuno STx has an MOI of slightly higher than 9300.
The other thing that has improved is that they have used AI to figure out how to make a variable thickness face that allows for higher ball speeds on off-center hits.
If you hit your driver very close to the sweet spot all the time, the new drivers aren't better. But if you don't, there is a definite difference. There is a video on YouTube where a guy deliberately mishits the STx to see what happens. On one swing, he almost misses the fact entirely, nearly a 'toe shank.' The drive loses some distance and ball speed, but it ends up only 4 yards offline.
The other thing that is much better is rebound off shots that hit low on the face. It used to be that because that was the part providing stability to the structure, you couldn" the get much rebound there, and thus drives went nowhere when hit low. The STx has what amounts to a spring built in so that a ball hit low on the face causes the entire face to move back and then spring forward, so little ball speed is lost. This low miss is one of my most common mistakes with driver. On my first round with the STx, it happened on the 7th tee. The ball ended up going as far as my old driver did with a decent hit, and it was in the center of the fairway.
So I think over the last 3-4 years there have been some significant improvements and that they benefit those of us who don't have perfectly repeatable swings.
