LogicalOne I tried to find the right balance with everything but I just couldn’t quite get the sound muted as much as I’d like to. Especially with limited funds to put into it

Kelly, just our of curiosity from a guy who always wonders how things work, what design features make a driver quieter?

Acoustics can be very complicating. Controlling the stiffness and the mass of a head with several different types of materials is a pretty big factor. The head shape/geometry is used to control the stiffness and you can certainly use design techniques such as adding internal ribs to areas to stiffen them up (and of course different materials have different stiffnesses). And mass can be controlled by the thicknesses of the head’s wall materials. When the walls get thin, the club gets loud. The more design elements (weight ports and weights, channels, adjustable hosels, etc) brings in more/different frequencies that have to ultimately come together to produce your target ‘sound’.

You being heavy into guitars probably can understand this pretty well I’m guessing. 😊

Although I am severely hearing impaired, I have never understood the amount of backlash from players regarding the 'sound' of a driver, or any club, when hitting a ball. And I understand what you've posted as to how that sound develops from construction/material makeup of the heads, just makes sense. I'm very certain those new TMade driver faces make a sound also, and they are not even metal. Hell, the old persimmon clubs made sounds.

BUT....any of those sounds are exacerbated when players (re: hacks) do hot hit the club properly.....thus any bad sound from any club you hit is their own damn fault!! Not the designer, not the factory!!

And, I'd Thank people to learn how to hit center face on the drivers so I am not annoyed.....primarily by their (typically) very bad swings.

      😉

This head made no sounds.....can anyone say why?....9 hits, none wiped away....

Totally agree. As Solheim said, it’s a perception thing. He was one of the first golf club engineers obviously to understand and recognize the importance of impact sound and the relationship between sound and feel, as well as differentiating mishits by the impact sound. Super fascinating stuff and he really doesn’t get enough credit for everything he has given to the equipment side of the game.

The whole perception thing is exactly what I was thinking 4 or 5 years ago when I was just having some fun moving golf equipment and had a run of several Krank heads. Most of those heads were loud (much like the SMT Encore, but different pitch) but people were snatching those up right and left and paying premium prices. Again, it’s just fascinating stuff! 😊

Im surprised any of the stretched out designs sound good.....but have played enough loud drivers that perform well not to care!

Ok, I got to play my neuro head after I stuffed about 14 grams inside it. It now has a very solid thwack sound when hitting balls. When someone else his hitting balls with it it sounds very solid with a quieter, low solid sound to it. I have also left the heavy 12 gram weight in the head, and didn't go any lighter for the time being.

3 Wood Neuro Head and Head Cover arrived today - they look great...Thank you for the Hat, ferrules and ball marker. Can't wait to put together and try out...

Big shout-out to @LogicalOne golf! 🙏 I cannot WAIT to get these in play. Kelly, this is a beautiful product and thank you for the extras! Since the hat was free, that means I'm officially sponsored, right? (and still on the list). 🤣

Unfortunately it's going to be late January before I get the shafts, grips and get them assembled. I've got to go back to VA, finish packing the house and move out by the 17th.

sdandrea1 I've been sittin here looking at these sumbiches for 2 weeks now.
Only about 11 more weeks and I can(maybe) actually use them. 😲

Try that on for size. Feels like shit, but happens here every year. 🤬Some idiot 'just gotta build' a club or set of, in my basement, in the winter. Dirty rotten S.O.B., he is!!

However long it takes, you will have to show us the final product once you get a chance to put them together.

sdandrea1 Why did you not get shafts from Kelly? Better for guys like us when compared to the Oziks, which I found too stiff per flex.
                Soft-step the R. 😉

My steel stepped shafts arrived! Now the hunt for some heads begins! Interested to see the new L1.XX heads coming this spring…
