Not quite true - while the 49ers have been mostly good since the 1980s, they were straight up bad for most of the 1970s (before hiring Bill Walsh), and had a bad run in the 2000s and 2010s (other than the Harbaugh years).

The center of the team from those games just recently passed away, Ken Bowman. He was from here in the Quad Cities.

And yes, I do recall the games. Getting only 2 channels on TV we were always 'stuck' watching Bears and Packer games.
Packers were good. Bears were same as today!! 😅Been a rough 55+ years for TV viewing on Sundays.....Bears are still shown locally.

scotts33 I remember those games and my dad explaining to me what the Super Bowl was when we watched the first one. I watched a lot of football in the 70s when both the Bears and Packers were bad.

Strangely enough, as good as Washington has been this year, I still don't know much about them and wasn't able to watch much of their semifinal game. I believe Michigan is the stronger team overall, but I don't actually know that. Since there is no SEC involved, I'll be happy for either team and kind of rooting for Washington just because I wouldn't have imagined a PAC-12 team being here.

Michigan by 10, and I'm not a UM fan at all. I just think they'll overpower Washington. I'll be rooting for Washington, though.

Texas looked like they were overpowering Washington's defense with their run game but still lost. Washington's passing game is so explosive. I think both teams will have success on offense. Michigan could be in trouble if they fall behind. UW's defense is better vs. the pass.

I like Washington's chances but if Michigan plays as physical as they did against Alabama it will be very difficult.

Sneakylong Last thing we need is a rookie coach in Mayo. I would love to see Vrabel here as HC. He’s a no BS guy and former player that would command respect. Harbaugh… they’d never pay him, plus I can’t stand looking at his winy face .

Annoying stuff doesn’t bother me as long as they win. I’ll take any coach who wins. Put up with Belichick’s nonsense for years because they won.

Whoever is going to be coach needs to get better offensive players. They suck. Harbaugh is a proven winner. But him coming to the Patriots is a pipe dream.

Probably just as important as getting a coach is getting a GM who knows what he’s doing.

Sneakylong I can see Kraft saying to Bill , “ if you want to stay, you’re not the GM, just the coach”. This makes Kraft not feel like the bad guy and puts the ball in Bill’s hands. People around here dismiss the thought of Bill giving up GM duties but I think he’s sick of it.

In the meantime, I can’t wait to grab a nice Bourbon and settle in for the Michigan game

DonM Didn’t the NFL find out a long time ago that Jim H is a weird dude?

He's beyond weird. A couple people recently have mentioned CTE and I think they may be on to something. He definitely seems like there's something wrong with him, he even has a weird look in his eyes like he's not all there. Not being in Michigan you guys don't get to hear the weird interviews that he does that suddenly go off the rails.
