Like the late chief justice Warren Burger I'm not buying the gun lobbies propaganda.
And again, agree with Burger that the bastardization of the second amendment has been a huge fraud perpetrated on the American people by the gun lobby. Fear is a great motivator.
Again, there's plenty of thriving democracies who don't have mass shootings or anywhere near the amount of gun violence that we do.
They have mental illness as well, the only thing they don't have is lax gun laws making guns easily accessible to people who shouldn't have one.
What's so bad with if wanting to own a gun having people jump thru a few more hoops? This country is awash in guns. Most gun owners are responsible people and want common sense gun safety reform.
But again, I've lived long enough to see that not much will get done certainly in my lifetime. The only hope is the kids who have grown up with active shooter drills in schools eventually choose sanity over insanity. I can only hope. 🤞
