GP Tour Velvet Plus 4

I bought one of these at the store the other day for 6-something bucks. In midsize, it's sort of heavy at 66 grams. If you want a LOT less taper, this is a great grip. (I have never measured an MCC Plus 4, but I know I like the size.) This TV +4 is really a +7 or +8, if not more. At 5" down the grip, with no extra buildup under it, it measures bigger than the supposedly +4 GP TW midsize WITH 4 to 6 wraps of buildup under the lower hand. I mean it looks and measures like it could be +10. I like that.

I always build up under the lower hand. With this grip it would not be necessary. Maybe the midsize I got has less taper than the standard size. Would not be the first time I've encountered that.

DonM I just bought one of those to try and I like it. I love the reduced taper grips. My current grip is the GP CP2 Pro and I find I don't need to add any tape under the right hand with that one. The new Tour Velvet Plus 4 is similar in size (maybe slightly smaller feeling) and I like that it has a softer feel than the OG Tour Velvet.

DonM I recently put a set of the regular GPTV +4 on some irons. I don't see, nor feel, any taper to them. Even the upper hand portion feels larger than a 'standard' size grip.

Par4QC I was going to say they are almost no taper, but I didn't measure it farther down the grip. Looks can be deceiving. But for sure, not much taper at all.

DonM 😄Yeah, after I posted, I was going to grab my caliper and measure. Then thought....why?? It's all about the feel, not a measurement.
