Which raises the question, is the shaft inserted partially or entirely in the adapter?

I bought one like this a year or so ago, PXG Gen 4 with a Ventus Velocore Blue shaft. It arrived with the ferrule double. I questioned the seller, who had no clue what was going on. The adapter was messed up on it as well. Fortunately I pulled the ferrule and adapter, and all was well underneath. Put a new adapter on and been in play since.

I've done this several times when the shaft is abraded above the adapter/ferrule from a deeper insertion in another club.

IMO, looks better than a 1/2 inch of abraded shaft being exposed. Just turn it down so it's flush.

I suppose one could use heat shrink tubes or paint but getting a proper colour match might be difficult depending on the shaft

Yes, I would think a wrap of black tape would look better if you couldn't touch up the paint.

A short piece of heat shrink works good. If I do this I run the shrink over the top of the hosel about 1/4" to just above the area to be covered on the shaft.
