TheBlade I drilled out an adapter and it seems like the shaft would only go in about 5/8ths of an inch fully inserted. Does that seem right or should I drill some more? Just seems a little short to me.
colej TheBlade You could get it pretty close with more drilling more but ultimately it’s difficult to use a drill bit with a tapered end. It really needs to be a flat bottom bit or reamer to get to the bottom of that adapter.
Par4QC TheBlade only go in about 5/8ths of an inch Should be about 1 1/8" deep. Be extra careful using a drill bit as the inside of the hosels are aluminum, not steel. You can drill right through the bottom.
CallMeAl Hmmm... Are you using a reamer? If not, that's my suggestion. Hand ream if you have a "T" handle. It'll bottom out flat and should be parallel all the way down. Good Luck!!!
sdandrea1 You should be able to see the bottom of the adapter..... metal, not graphite. If you can't, keep drilling...... carefully. Or, like @"LBlack14 said.....
Rickochet To drill out a graphite shaft step drill with the first bit just bigger than the hole in the shaft. Drill to bottom then change to next size bit. Keep doing that and usually the heat generated will send the shaft spinning on the bit before you get to the sides of the hosel.
Taki27 I’ve had good luck using a regular drill bit close to hosel size and then using a really small bit that I run along the bottom sides to just drill out the remains that the drill bit taper didn’t catch.

I use a 5/16" spade wood bit that I cut the center point off flush with a dremel so the bottom is flat. I works great for chewing out old epoxy in the bottom of the hosel.
