Can someone explain the “Cart Bag”

Can someone explain the phenomenon? I don’t see it. They are heavy, haven’t seen a good looking one yet, some people that come to our place claim they don...

They’re just a one trick pony. Golf companies are smart to make people think they need stuff like that by putting in the word “cart”.

Typhoon It's what they are....cart bags. They are not carry bags/stand bags. C. A. R. T bags. There is a huge diff. Not made for carrying, nor sold as such.
Cart bags don't get crushed when you strap them on the cart. I can tighten the strap only so far. With a stand bag/carry bag, I can tighten the strap to a point the clubs will never come out. And will bend them. And the bag will still rattle around/move.

Typhoon Kcee, Tour bags would almost make more sense than a cart bag. You can easily carry it to the car, range, house.

I looked at getting one, but I decided against it because: it costs more, it weighs a ton and doesn't have as many pockets. I like having my wallet and keys in a small pocket, rangefinder in another, tees in another, balls in another, etc. Easy to stow and then find stuff. The only good thing about a Tour bag IMO is they are usually well made although my buddy broke his last one and just bought a cart bag this time.

Why would you tighten it that much? That’s like brushing your teeth until they bleed 😳.

If I’m in a cart I get it snug. I’ve never lost a bag in my life. I know you said CART bag is a huge difference. But a bag is there to carry clubs/balls/tees/ maybe a jacket or rain gear .a normal sized carry bag does all the same things as a CART bag. It’s a golf bag, it’s purpose is to carry clubs… “sorry sir, you can’t put that bag on the cart because it’s not called a cart bag”….😂

Whenever I did strap a carry bag onto a cart, I always ran the strap through the carry handle so I didn't need to tighten the strap too tight. Always seemed to work well. Last year I went to play a little 9 hole course and when I got there I found out they weren't letting carts out. I said, ok, I'll just carry like I did in the old days. Fat 59 year old me didn't enjoy the last couple of holes up the hill back to the clubhouse carrying the cart bag. My heart made it, but my back almost didn't. I usually play golf with my wife these days and she won't walk, so the cart bag works out fine.

This is what I do with mine. Although mine is a "cart" bag it was clearly made with it being a hybrid as its light (does not have a hard shell) yet has 14 full length dividers, plus 2 side wells. The downside to it is it does not stand on its own and tends to twist on my push cart. On a riding cart when I thread the strap through the handle it stays put!

Spuzz Yes! I have one of each, but the Tour bag is super old and I just use it for storing shafts and clubs.

I have been using a cart bag for many years. I have never owned one that did not have a grab handle and a shoulder strap. You can remove the strap like most bags if you wish. The strap tucks in the back side of the bag when not needed. Most carry bags have a large pocket at the bottom just below where the strap connects. Using a carry bag on a carts eliminates use of that pocket. Cart bags maximize use of the bag sides with various pockets. Cart bags will normally carry more stuff than a carry bag because the people want to minimize carry weight which isn't an issue with a cart mounted bag.

I have a huge, bulky, heavy cart bag and I love it. I bought it principally because I wanted full length dividers for all my clubs.

I walk in the spring and fall, and my cart bag is so huge that it almost doesn't fit on my ClicGear, but I make it fit, dammit, and yes, I push the big-ass cart on the ClicGear, and I like it! I like it fine! /SNL old man rant

The bag I have is a Sun Mountain Hybrid. I have absolutely no issues with this either carrying it, push carting, or drive cart. My driver and putter are are next to each other. Those are the furthest away from the drive cart seat, my wedges are the closest to the seat. Everything is easy to get out. For the push cart, driver and putter are on top, wedges on the bottom...

Love my Ping Pioneer cart bag. On my 3rd one. Before that had a Sun Mountain C130. I walked 3 days a week for 10 years. Been riding now for ~ 4 years.

The cart bag fits better on both a push cart and riding cart. A stand bag slides all over the place. A cart bag fits nice and tight. It’s made for being on a cart. If I walked and carried I’d use a stand bag.

I liked the Stealth 70 but the finish on the Tour light was a nice black matte…. Both felt great. Looked awesome with my Alpha C830.2

Typhoon I have a Tour light in a Snake Eyes driver. It is a beast. Also have some Stealth 70s that were painted for Ruger. Kinda heavy for me now, but they are A flex and work great. When I've used them. Should get them all out and have some fun before summer is over.
