Don't follow the NBA and haven't for over 20 years.
I do talk with my financial planner and have honestly declined recommended purchases. My stockbroker also did not see my point, similar to this, so I don't expect any or many others to agree in this case.
I do research companies and make comparisons of where their headquarters are located, not merely where their products are produced.
Am I squeaky clean? No, no one is no matter how hard you try.
I do know that compared to my friends I do way more research on companies, yes companies, as I do on a product. If it's a toss up between products, I choose the company I want to support. I also look at their mergers, acquisitions and subsidiaries. Ask my wife. Ask my former stockbroker. That was what I did for 25 years before teaching. To me it is (1) interesting (2) revealing/
Do I expect to change anyone's mind here? No.
It does surprise me that as much as people bitched about LIV and didn't watch it,, then why isn't the merger enough for people to take even a temporary stand against it? Very simple. Ever boycotted a product? Don't watch for say two weeks? Oh, the US Open, oooops.
My point is, sports is a business. Why not evaluate sports and their products the same way as other products?
Since you brought up the NBA and China, my question is how many who stopped following the NBA due China affiliation will also pass on golf, at least temporarily? Probably none because we play golf and not basketball. Golf is more than a mere sport to us and that is fine. Just saying.
All I want to do is covey my disdain to the PGA. It is true in any sporting event and we have all done it. If you don't like the match up, you don't watch. I referred to it before. PGA viewership in the 4th round was the lowest in over ten years because of Koepka and people didn't like the leader board. Is that wrong? Are those people self-righteous? That is a message the PGA sees clearly. That is all I'm saying. You have a voice if you choose to use it. If the Saudi connection doesn't bother you now that is fine. They are not going away. This brings them closer.
