The top slot line was put in for the spring like effect to enhance the impact action, although it often confuse the users . Taylormade bought Adams out because of this pattern of slot ,without intention to continue the whole line of Adams products.
We should always aim with the face of the golf club instead of the top of the crown. I totally understand the issue of visually confusing with the top line prominently visible there, If it's bothersome to look at it, one could tape off the top slot with a color matching tape.
That's probably Adams "ghost " the top slot for the later models.
BTW, the head hit's high lofted shots. Currently has the Project X 6.0 in it, however, I might try out other heavier and stiffer shafts. It seemed to like it that way. It played very much like a long iron with more forgiveness built in.
