Ke4 Max driver review

I finally received a demo head from Golfworks to try. Here is my review
i shafted it up with a golfworks ultralight r flex driver shaft. Left it at 46.25”. Swing weight D3. Excellent feel
and balance.
I did not get a chance to hit it on a trackman so I don’t have launch numbers, but I did hit it on the range and compared it to my current driver, a Sim, 9° with a regular flex diamana shaft.
Bottom line, they performed very similarly. If anything, the KE4 Max was a tad longer, likely due to the lighter and longer shaft. It was also a little less consistent, again due to the lighter and longer shaft. I will say I preferred the feel of the Sim, but there was nothing wrong with the feel or sound of the KE4 Max. I could easily play this driver, if I did not already have the Sim, which I am used to. It is a top quality head, looks much better than the pictures in the catalog or on the web. Is it worth $180? Considering the cost of new drivers, I think so. With a really good shift it is well under $300. I would definitely do that over a new $500 OEM driver, because I think this performs every bit as well. Is it worth the same as a $300 used TM or Callaway or cobra from last few years? Not sure

Therein lies the problem I am having to justify buying higher end components these days. That head is not listed on the canada website but the Ke4 Tour TC is and it is $228 Canadian. Add a decent shaft and grip and I am well north of $300. I can get an OEM used in great shape for that and more importantly I could then resell it and only lose a little bit.

I like it more, both looks and performance. The Max has a bigger footprint, larger front to back, but it still has a fairly deep face. It sits very nicely to my eye, square. And I think the cosmetics are nicer - much nicer than the pics on he webpage.
I found it more forgiving than the Tour head, with a slightly higher launch. Similar sound and feel.

And fwiw, I’m going to give it another go before I pass it on. I shortened the club to 45.75” and we’ll see. I also tried my friend’s srixon mk5 with a 45” riptide 60 6.0, so too stiff and shorter, and I hit is further than my sim and straighter. So I may be on to something…..

Whatever your sim max has, should be what you set that maltby at. Shaft weight, head weight, length.

I cut it down to 45.75”, but it’s a diff club than my sim. I’ve always hit TM drivers very high, the Maltby is truer to loft. The sim is also heavier. I’ll hit these 2 and the Srixon later and report back
